July 2004

This issue of The Baptist Pietist Clarion focused on Baptist Pietist spirituality, especially as exemplified by the life and witness of longtime Bethel president Carl H. Lundquist. In addition to articles on this topic by G.W. Carlson and Terri Hansen, the issue included contributions from Lundquist’s wife Nancy and daughter Carole and excerpts from Lundquist himself.

Also featured were the prayers of Gordon Johnson and Howard Smith’s analysis of Swedish hymnody, more poetry from Signe Olson Peterson (one written in response to a Lundquist sermon), and Ron Saari’s report on his sabbatical, one theme of which was learning how, as a pastor, to “model the value of an intentional and disciplined Christian spiritual journey.”
